JF, Reading the news everyday, what's your "basis of comparison"?

One basis is the fact that the press is even there at all covering this stuff.

Do you really believe that?

Team America has a wonderful parody of it:

Sean Penn: "Last year I went to Iraq. Before Team America showed up, it was a happy place. They had flowering meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where the children danced and laughed and played with gumdrop smiles."

Did you read the article Ted posted about Basra? The Basra that Elroy holds up as the symbol of success for the US strategy.

My article was from a ME newspaper, an Arabic writer, and based on a visit to Basra last week.

Ted's article was from how long ago? A US writer, and with what agenda? Which article do you think is more likely to be accurate?

The local ME papers LOVE to criticize the situation in Iraq, and have no incentive to paint a rosey picture where there is none. The LA Times and NY Times, on the other hand, go make your own decision.
