Don't you remember the story from maybe two years ago where seventeen schoolgirls in Saudi Arabia were allowed to burn to death in their school building because they weren't "properly dressed?"

Oh yeah, I forgot that one. Pretty hard to believe, but that does sound like a familiar story.

I met a Saudi guy in a bar about a month ago. He seemed completely normal, but you gotta wonder what lurks under the surface in that country.

And I can't find it on the website, but there was a small article in the newspaper today quoting some senior Iranian official who claims the reason Condi Rice is against Iran is because she had an Iranian boyfriend in college who dumped her.

And that's the way it is!

I definitely remember that story. Saudi Arabia is a very extreme and backward place when viewed from the lense of Western morality. On the other hand, I'm sure it's the paragon of virtue to many devout Muslims.

P.S. How do you like that for moral relativism? I think with that statement I took one giant step to the secular liberal left. Eek! I'd better scramble back just to the right of center. Let's see. I love tax cuts, but not for the rich. There, I feel better.
