But again, Newisys was aware of the specs of the K8, including its memory architecture, when they designed Horus, ran the simulations, etc. So that doesn't sound like it would be a very likely reason for the delay.

I'm also glad that Rich is working at AMD.

This does not seem to be the case. The performance projections
show Horus based Opteron solutions to be very competitive.

which was not designed with Horus-type topology in mind, in particular in its memory architecture.

Two things:
First there are optimizations in Opteron specifically for Horus.
Second I don't think it really matters what Opteron has in mind. Look at what IBM is able to do with Summit based systems. Xeon does not have Summit in mind yet the two do well together.
