No I do believe TA can help make good investing decisions. I spend many hours listening to the wiz and phil and reading websites to try and increase my understanding. I also believe we will formulate better and better forecasting models as computer power increases. However I also believe every once in awhile you get people so wound up in an idea or belief or stock the models break down in that rare instance all rationaly and logic are GONE.

Yardeni fed model had an r squared of .014 - but the traditional model .296 - are you aware of a better one?

Mr. Bogle who is richer and better informed than most here says don't fight the fed. Taxes, expenses and compounding to him mean much more than being a good market timer.

Remember I shorted goog when it was under 200, I thought it a silly valuation then I was riding the Generals coat tails. Then I went to the AI conference here in clearwater and saw my old professor and realized a lot of money would be pouring into these guys for awhile from the papers presented there and the people I talked too - strong money that is not easily shaken I feel. There are some amazing world changing things coming in the fields of search and data mining and expert systems. You may live to see the younglings of Asimovs I, Robot.

In that movie PI they go into numerologists and how hebrew was based on numbers and show some interesting stuff - I am telling you, I think you will really enjoy the film. It was a real hoot.

I think the universe is determinant and recursive so I firmly believe the future can be projected - what was it arthur c. clarke said about magic and science though? We just aren't there yet. Hehe.
