Nonsense: PM Chretien ignored the CSIS and said otherwise. You should be aware that not everything published on hard right or anti-Canadian sites is not necessarily true.

The assets of Hamas in Canada were frozen in Dec 2001 by the Chretien cabinet. I doubt they would do that if they were not believed to be a terrorist organization. Chretien did say (truthfully) that Hamas has a charitable wing.

Canada's Anti-Terrorism Act was introduced on Oct 15, 2001 in response to 911. The legislation received Royal Assent on Dec 18 and came into force on Dec 24. The Act provides that "listed entities" associated with terrorism may be designated.

It is true that Hamas was not in the first seven listed. However, it was in the next six a few months later. The number of "listed entities" is now up to 38.
