That's ridiculous. I am not in any way ignorant. I am passionately opposed to illegal and immoral wars. You seem to see life simply. You've made a convenient excuse for the Nazi slaughter of WW II by claiming that the bulk of the men fighting for an insane criminal were themselves decent men. There is something profoundly wrong in you attitude. These Germans soldiers were guilty of immoral acts. I'm shocked that you try to candy coat this as if all warring people are decent people. They are not. The big problem that we face as a nation is that militarism is a poison and one of the most likely ways to destroy the American way of life. President Eisenhower saw this clearly: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its labourers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children... This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." --President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Speech in 1953 Source: eisenhower.utexas.edu "In the counsels of Government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military Industrial Complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes." --President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Farewell Speech, January, 1961 *** What I see is that the immoral Iraq invasion and occupation is precisely this sort of un-American adventure that is ruining the U.S. Treasury, forcing hundreds of thousands of patriotic Americans into a morally ambiguous and compromised position and leading the Bush Crime Family to demand a continuous escalation in their theft of civil liberties from the People. This cannot be a way to preserve the American way of life. Rather, it appears to be the way to destroy America and replace it with a cruel, vindictive imperial police state. This is not a fate that America deserves. But it is the fate that Americans will be forced to acquiesce to if the malevolent forces in the Pentagon and the White House have their evil will fulfilled. Do you want this for your nation?
