On the issue with the environment and biology being way to variable & complex for engineers or physicists - interesting theory....

Not what I said.

Engineers like theories and data to be concise and mathematical. Biology is much more messy. When I was in college, I wrinkled up my nose at biology majors, which I considered math challenged wimps. I excelled at math and physics. BTW, I went to a Christian college which was anti-evolution, although I took no biology there anyway. Only later in life after marrying a biologist (her dad is also a biology Phd) have I come to appreciate how rich, beautiful and complex the field is. I no longer consider biology to be a wimp major.
