The question is timing... my contention is that the first 1/2 Trillion dollars of borrowed money could perhaps be justified as a reasonable gamble toward radically re-shaping the Middle East.

But we have reached a point of rapidly diminishing returns (the steadily rising toll in blood and national treasure points to that...) and a SECOND half Trillion dollars of borrowed money --- on the backs of future generations of American taxpayers --- would be an idiotic and self-destructive expenditure.
