Counter-leaking against the C.I.A. has had the grotesque result of putting a reporter for this newspaper behind bars.

Verrrrry interesting.

I still think Wilson was motivated by buffing up his importance to Kerry, though. But maybe CIA vs. administration finger-pointing was it. Or maybe both.

Most interesting comment.... Bob Woodward's latest book is the best short discussion of this distinction - between the reporter as private eye and the reporter as stenographer - that has ever been published.

Are there any true stenographers left....? The ones who just record the happenings, with no comments of their own?

And are there ANY true private eye reporters? We see VERY few, if any...
