Personally, I am not convinced that those who believe a married woman got pregnant from God while a virgin are any less nutty than those who believe in some galactic tyrant named "Xenu".

LOL! :-)

Quite a few otherwise brilliant people firmly believe in their religion of choice.
A much larger number of much less brilliant people, all the way down to "moron" and "idiot" also believe, don't they? And of those you would classify as "brilliant", what percentage would you say believe that **** as compared to those of low IQ? Has it occurred to you that belief in God, the Virgin, Heaven's Gate, Koresh, and Xenu are inversely related to intelligence?

In one study examining people in the USA, 90% of the general population surveyed professed a distinct belief in a personal god and afterlife, while only 40% of the scientists with a BS surveyed did so, and only 10% of those considered "eminent."

Mensa members were much less religious in belief than the typical American college alumnis or adult.

If you'd like more studies, just let me know. There are plenty more.

Would you care to cite where I said otherwise?

Cruise ought to keep his mouth shut about matter in which knows little or nothing, particularly considering the hostile beliefs inspired by his own idiotic religious beliefs

Agreed. Just like Bush ought to keep his mouth shut about stem cell research, a matter in which he knows little or nothing, particularly considering the hostile beliefs inspired by his own idiotic religious beliefs.

Again, would you care to cite where I said otherwise? Bush at least has the excuse of "playng to base support". What's Tom's excuse?
