Iran, Iraq to set up joint auto manufacturing firm

Iran Khodro Auto Manufacturing Company will set up a joint firm with Iraq to manufacture automobiles in that country.

Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Osama Abdul Aziz al-Najafi said that various Iraqi industrial sectors
are being reconstructed now, Iran Khodro Public Relations Department announced Saturday.

He added that Iran's giant auto manufacturer, Iran Khodro Industrial Group and all its affiliated companies particularly Iran Khodro Diesel can play effective role in reconstructing and renovating Iraq's transportation system.

Al-Najafi, heading a delegation, inspected different sections of Iran Khodro company.

During his visit, he was briefed on the company's activities.

He termed his negotiations with Iran Khodro officials as `fruitful'.

The Iraqi minister pointed to Iran's high capabilities, saying the country can meet Iraq's demands for commercial cars particularly buses and ambulances.

He assessed his country as a good market for Iran Khodro products such as Samand cars.
