Iraq keen to use Iran's expertise on energy production

Iraqi Electricity Minister Abd al-Muhsin Shalash here Saturday called for using Iran's expertise in the field of generation and transmission of energy.

Speaking to IRNA, on the sidelines of a tour of Iran Power Station Repair Co. in Fardis, Karaj, he added that Iran's progress in the sector is of special importance to Iraqi officials and experts.

"Cooperation between the two countries and using the expertise of Iranian specialists can reduce the problems facing Iraqis in the sector," he added.

Shalash declared Iraq's readiness to sign a cooperation agreement with Iran in various branches of the industry.

The minister also announced that Iraqi Prime Minister is scheduled visit Iran Power Station Repair Co. this afternoon.

Iran Power Station Repair Co. is situated at an area measuring 73,500 square meters and comprises a workshop measuring 26,400 square meters. It has been in operation since 1981 with the objective of conducting major repairs of the nationwide power stations.

It is located adjacent to Montazer Qaem power station in Fardis, Karaj, in the suburb of the capital city of Tehran.
