Ahhhh...an article by the very man who Misused Classified Government Information....a man who for a year and a half span, was head of the CIA....who ignored outside threats and terrorism from Al Qaeda..... Oh, yes, he certainly is a "good Leftwing role model" that's for sure!

>>So where does that leave US on Iraq?<<

The US army is breaking under the strain. If the US army DOES break, President Bush faces a military retreat from Iraq. That would inevitably be followed by a larger retreat from the rest of the Middle East. If President Bush does decide to retreat, it will be one of history's most difficult - not difficult in military terms, but in political terms. President Bush would face the impossibility of explaining to Americans how he got them into the situation in the first place. He knows this. Not only did the US government lie themselves into a war, they could not even win the war.
Based on past record, President Bush is most likely to go for a military escalation in the Middle East. If he does so, the rest of the world will face an "oil shock" exceeding all past records. The Iranians are on the other side of the Straits of Hormuz through which much Middle Eastern oil is exported. They can easily block it.
