Here IMHO is the best account of the Rove/Plame business --- goes back to the true axis of evil in our government, the office of the Vice President.

"...The story might have ended there, but Bush, Vice President Cheney and other officials decided to make the yellowcake charges a central piece of the administration's evidence in arguing Hussein had designs on a dangerous program of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear bombs.

On the march to war, Bush officials rebuffed concerns from some at the CIA and included in his January 2003 State of the Union the now-famous 16 words: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." Wilson was floored, then furious...."

======Exactly. They could have:

1. Not lied in the first place
2. Not gone after Wilson for revenge in the second place
3. Come clean immediately instead of covering things up for the last year and a half.

It's amazing that they're STILL lying about Wilson although they may have finally dropped that bit about Wilson being sent by Cheney which is something he did not say in the first place.

They are STILL saying that Wilson was sent by his wife but she doesn't have the authority to do so. Since they're both professionals, even if she did SO WHAT?

DeLay pays out $500K to his wife and daughter for professional services. Cheney paid his lesbian daughter for help on his campaign.

SO WHAT?

Would Libby Dole help her husband get gigs if she can? The absurdity of Mehlman and the RNC and the sheer volume of lies they tell must mean they're running flat out scared.
