"but don't bother checking the Anglos." A couple of things here. For one, you are confusing race and religion. Hence your statement about Anglo-looking Muslims. For 'Muslim' you might want to use Arab or even darker-skinned. Besides, not all followers of the Prophet are Arab. Look at Pakistan or Malaysia for example. Or Chechnya for that matter. Chechens are 'Anglo-looking' because they are Caucasian, just like the Bosnians. For another, you are falling into the trap of fighting the last war. Suicide bombers or hijackers probably aren't going to successful anymore. Just like Lockerbie or the Shoe Bomber, those sort of things work, or don't work as in the case of SB, because no one expected them in the first place. Random searches have the advantage that they can detect something unexpected. Racial profiling just makes sure that you have a disaffected population and alienates people who might not have been that way in the first place.

But so far today, we are testing blond bimbos and old ladies in wheel chairs (real life example of a security check on a plane I was on recently)... Sure, to demonstrate that everybody is equal. While at least 99% of the suicide terrorist attacks are committed by Muslims and none by blond bimbos and wheel chaired old ladies. Equal, huh??? Taro

I'm all for doing randomized checks of Muslims, but don't bother checking the Anglos. Anglos love life too much to commit suicide in the pursuit of killing innocent civilians. Even Timothy McVeigh tried to get away. As far as Muslims recruiting Anglo-looking Muslims, that is definitely possible. Alot of Chechnyans for example look very Anglo. But that's ok. I'm talking about profiling based on whether they are Muslim, not based on what they look like. How are you to know if they are Muslim? Do you think all Muslims carry the Koran around with them for identity purposes?Any terrorist will try to look as typically American as possible. There are millions who go through our airports each day......how many are Muslims or Jews or Christian or atheist. Who knows? Oh then, you want identity cards..........how far are you willing to go with your paranoia? How many freedoms are you willing to give up to feed the beast? And let me give you some good advise.........no matter how much security and cross checking you impose, the American gov't will never stop them completely. Just as the gov't can't guaranteed you won't get killed in a car accident, they can not guarantee stopping every would-be terrorist in the world. It doesn't matter how many nukes we have. Terrorism is a part of life........and thanks to Iraq, its more a part of our lives than ever before. The Londoners have the right attitude......they know what caused the attack [Iraq]and they know they will not let the terrorists win by caving into their fears and restricting their lives. As the Mayor of London said, people move to London because its a free city in a country that is democratic and free. And they will not let the terrorists take that away from them. <EOM>
