If there have ever been 'good guys' who rose to power when there was longstanding internal strife, then they ALL did, usually as revolutionaries but also as people who could unite others behind a good cause.

Like Pinocet, Castro, Milosovec, Khomeni .... people like that?

It seems to me that when you have failed states the risks rise dramatically that opportunists will move in to exploit the situation. BTW, that is what we have created in Iraq -- at least so far. This is the most damning stupidity of the invasion of Iraq - the incompetent creation of a failed state. This is unforgivable.
