Well, maybe the first Bush would have fared better had he not lost the courage of his convictions just when a real victory was in sight. Ask the Kurds. Ask the Shiites. They believed the first Bush much to their regret. The second Bush took up the baton and is fated to carry it to victory however long that takes. One can only hope that when GWB has to pass that baton, he passes it to one with his brand of moral courage and deep conviction, else we wind up with another Clintonesque disaster.
