I don't think it takes much to tip someone over the edge into suicide bombing or other crimes against their neighbors. Years of slights, feelings of alienation, living in ghettos apart from the general population, fear, loathing, etc. coupled with propaganda and peer pressure... The Columbine suiciders weren't religious, they were angry and humiliated and wanted revenge. So what do we have now in Iraq: 120+ degree temperatures, massive unemployment, garbage in the streets, intermittent electricity, backed up sewers, life in a dangerous war zone and the rise of an autocratic new government coupled with unbelievable corruption. Yep, this bodes well for the future.
