I think very few terrorists are probably "wacko". Most of them are probably quite a bit like some of the folks on SI. They are probably black and white thinkers. They probably are very idealistic, religious, and believe absolutely in their cause and its morality, which is (of course) absolutely right and good, and God himself approves of it, and I'm sure they are certain HE approves, and is on their side. They believe that whatever it costs to achieve their aim, is the price it is necessary to pay. They believe their purpose is so noble, that everything they do on the way to their cause is justified. There are probably no agnostic terrorists, and very few (maybe no) relativists. I would think more people (who are also black and white thinkers, and are very religious, and are sure God is on their side, and who believe absolutely in things) would recognize these traits in the terrorists, and realize that but for the grace of an invasion here, go they. But no, such realizations have not fallen like manna from heaven- at least not yet.

Edit- I bet those terrorists think "humanism" is a dirty word, just like some of the folks on SI. They probably also don't like "liberals" much.

The only difference between the insurgent's terrorist actions and the shock-and-awe campaign is the price tag of the objects of terror.

excuse me....

but if you are an insurgent genuinely attempting to gain some sort of liberty from an oppressor, you fight MILITARY targets and you fight a war aiming at such.

there may be collateral damage as part of the dangers that war represent.

at such point, without necessarily agreeing with the fight for such independence as i am merely putting an example... i may consider 'negotiating' with the enemy based on a reasonable basis.

opposite to such.

do i consider and give any consideration to a group of radicals who specifically target innocent people and civilian installations where completely innocent people will die, and they do so with such intent?

well... sorry...

i do not give a rat's arse what the argument may be or motivation or....

W H A T E V E R
in my eyes, these are deranged criminals ad need to be destroyed as quickly as possible....

i go back to a simple concept

had the europeans (and even the US) NOT given yasser arafat the status of a diplomat ad treated the PLO as if deserved respect, instead of what they truly have been (a band of criminals)

i think we would be seeing a different story in reference to terrorism.

i will also fault the government who in the first place trained and aided in gaining power to animals like saddam, bin laden etc etc....

but such does not justify their criminal actions today, and hence... once again...

the time for bs is over, we kill them all or they will kill us all.

i rather have them killed and out there in their territory, not here.

** let's not forget... we are at WAR **
