IMO, a lot of people in the US don't vote because they see a Tweedledum or Tweedledee choice, both of whom really work for different interest groups and corporations, and just don't care.

I wish we had a parlimentary form of government here, with many parties and governments formed by coalitions of parties. Then, you could vote your issues and feel like you had a little clout without having to completely compromise your values. Americans have been brainwashed into thinking we have the best implementation of democracy here. After watching democracy work around the world, I no longer agree.

So, you are saying that people don't want to take an active role in changing or influencing the outcome of elections.

Most people are happy to continue the status quo. That does not confirm your hypothesis that they don't want democracy. Their choice in government is to let the current process take its course and to live with the consequences.
