Well "liberal" sort of has that meaning. A "liberal" education, "liberality" of thought- but I think some people would say that the damn liberals wrote the dictionaries, and took all the good words for themselves :-)

I doubt that education, as a standalone variable, has much to do with political affiliation. The most educated people in our society, medical doctors, are overwhelmingly conservative.
