>> I was just trying to make the point that incompetency can usually be remedied

I disagree. Talented people can be trained, but most people excel in only one or two fields. Why place your hope in incorruptibility rather than building a system immune to most abuses and then use people of proven competence...besides, I don't think you can or should train the president or vice president or head CIA or...these are not jobs for trainees.

>> Although there are many messes in our circumstance, manufacturing hatred and animosity to advance partisan notions is counter productive.

When have you ever seen me being partisan? I am an equal opportunity dissident :)

As far as I am concerned, it is the system that is broken. I care little to debate if we had an angel or a genius at the helm we'd be better off and so we should search for such a hero. I'd rather we have a good system that assures a good outcome no matter which party is at the helm.

Your aversion to hold government responsible for its conduct in the name of "unity" will prevent you from ever fundamentally fixing the system.

"manufacturing hatred and animosity to advance partisan notions is counter productive."

It certainly wasn't counter-productive when Turd Blossom was using it to get the chimp elected twice! You sound like your still spouting the chimp's 2000 talking points, that he is a "compassionate conservative" who wants to "work with" the Democrats and bring decorum back to the office. He was against "nation building", and promised to lead from humility!
