I hate to have to belabor the obvious, but you're missing the point entirely about the Laffer curve.

If you perceive the Laffer curve as an argument that cutting taxes always enhances tax revenue, you don't understand it at all.

There are places on the curve where raising taxes enhances tax revenue, and there are places on the curve where lowering taxes enhances tax revenue, and there are even places on the curve that are revenue-neutral.

The political argument is that sometimes higher taxes are counter-productive. I don't see how anybody can refute that, although we could (obviously) differ on where exactly we are in that equation.
