my newly installed Norton Internet Security program does a lot of that work as well

Since I have gone to Firefox, my Norton and my AdAware have not caught anything when they run. Really astounding. FireFox runs on the surface of XP, and stuff doesn't get in there, I guess.

The print from Firefox is, however, smaller than from IE.

If you mean the size of the letters on your screen, that's called "font", and font size and font type are adjustable in any browser.

In Firefox, click "Tools" and then "Options" and then "General" and then "Fonts and Colors" and fiddle with it there.

Even easier, if you have a mouse with a wheel, simultaneously mash the "Control" key and spin the wheel to adjust font size. If you do this, and nothing happens, you might need to click on the type you're reading first and then do it. I do this all the time on the fly, takes milliseconds.

The way Firefox handles font size is the main reason I switched and that is still my favorite feature. It's easier to size than in IE and has a much larger range. IE allows only five sizes and you have to go to the Edit menu to change it. FF has what seems to be and unlimited set of font increments. CNTL+ to increase it and CNTL- to decrease it. You can get it so big you only have one word on the screen, should you be so inclined.
