Something that folks on one side never acknowledge is the role of anti-semitic persecution in creating Zionism and the Jewish state.

Herzl became a zionist from witnessing anti-semitic mobs in France, which he considered the epitome of a modern enlightened state, and concluded Jews had no future in Europe. History proved the conclusion correct. At the Evian conference, the civilized nations of the world agreed to close their doors and leave would-be Jewish refugees to the fate the Nazis had planned for them. Following the war, where were the displaced to go - back to the countries which had tried to kill them or had given them up to the Nazis? Who can say it was unreasonable to think they could live safely nowhere but in their own homeland with their own army?

And after the state was established the Arab countries were so "anti-zionist" they effectively doubled Israel's population quickly by driving out their own Jewish populations.

Soviet/Russian persecution pushed more refugees to Israel. Nowadays anti-semitic violence against Jews in places like France is pushing more Jews out.

Very few Jews from places like the US or other countries where they are not persecuted have emigrated to Israel otoh.

It looks to me like history (or ?) has conspired to force the Jews to form a state.
