Frankly, I don't see what the big deal is....Roberts was acting as an advocate....those papers are unlikely to be definitive as to his own thinking....

The ruling set off a furor in legal organizations, which had maintained that the attorneyclient privilege protected government lawyers as well.

Be interesting to see how lawyers act when the client isnt Clinton but possibly a Republican. jdn

I think the Clinton Starr case is different. That was a criminal investigation, not an advice and consent by the Senate. The precedent for judges releasing their private papers as attorney's have always been off limits.
