I can get a cup of coffee and a donut (just as good as DD) for 99 cents. whats the point? prices for me have dropped. "If inflation was truly 0 this computer should cost $100. Don't confuse human progress and productivity with deflation. " I'm not. I paid 500 to accomplish some job that I used to pay 3000 for. Dont confuse productivity with MY inflation. "You paid the price that does not cover the cost, that is why most airlines lose money." I see, you want to measure inflation by the PROFITABILITY of companies not by how much it costs me to pay for things. Thats certianly different.

Well if you are silly enough to buy name brands at full price you have nothing to complain about. I bought chicken legs (no they were NOT expired or even close for .49 a pound a few weeks back). I bought chicken breasts a few weeks back at .89 lb. Now I doubt they can even raise chickens for that price. Center cut chops I bought recently at $2.19. Not on sale they are $4.59 or higher. It seems to me that 1) food is a bargain 2) you have no clues how to shop in 1971-1973 I worked for grocery stores. I know prices. Chicken on sale back the (whole chickens) were about .27 lb. Not on sale perhaps .35-40. I have recently seen chickens whole chickens for .69 or so. Not on sale you can easily pay $1.69. I can name countless other items. In general I would say meat has gone up 150% over 35 years. Someone care to compound that for me? Can you pay more if you buy stupid? Of course People bitching about food prices are clueless IMO. Mish
