I hate to butt into this but we just did presentations on our term papers for an ethics class and one of the other students did his on illegal immigration's impact on the country. APparently his research matched your outlook. He threw out some pretty huge numbers for healthcare costs and even showed how the recent closures of numerous emergency rooms here in Southern California and some other southern states were linked to this. Apparently, a "normal hospital doesn't have to treat illegal immigrants but ERs do. To keep the hospitals from hemoraging cash, they are just closing them.

FWIW - He also had some scary statistics on crime. Off the top of my head, it was something like 30% of the prison inmates in border states are illegal immigrants, they had an average of 8 prior arrests.

Scariest part was near his conclusion where he pointed out that hispanics were close to or already a majority in many key areas and were likely to ensure that nothing ever gets done to stem the flow and are now getting enough power to push thier own propoganda so it will be harder for the masses to get the real information without an active seeking out for it. In other words, mainstream press will give soft view rather than realistic view much like the stock bubble only gave the buy side pollyanna view.

Anyway, I am sure I will regret writing this but just thought it was interesting that I just sat through a presentation on this last night in my class and then read this debate here. This discussion will probably die before I see the student again for next semester otherwise I would get a copy of his paper with sources and then post some of them here in a few weeks.

Good Luck,

Lee

EDIT - None of this applies to LEGAL migrants though. This is all strictly ILLEGAL migrants coming from the Mexican border mostly comprised of hispanics from South, Central America.
