last night O'reilly had Billy Graham's son on in interview ...Rev Franklin Graham .

When O'reilly started the discussion with a descritption of the state of things between east and west , and a question regarding whether we are in a war with terrorism or a crusade. The kindhearted Franklyn was too quick to jump to point out that the "God of Islam" is not my "God". That his God was not a vengeful "God" , etc. But Christianity has seen many perversions as well as extremist fascists.

I was wincing a bit , because Rev Franklyn Graham cannot be this naive , and fortunately O'reilly cut him off immediately gently disagreeing and pointing out he thought that their God and "Ours" was really the same . That there is envisioned a God of love just as clear in Islam as with Christ followers.

This is a major stumbling block for most all evangelical/fundamentalist preachers (of Islam or Christ, etc), that usually do no harm , well some ,almost <ggg> except when they take on this tone and stance which really undermines their own connection to the larger view of acceptance and compassion. A larger view which transcends preaching , that is preaching to the choir of your own ego. Trying to divide "God" into their own literal category, who is by nature beyond categories .

O'reilly was looking after him well though, and steered him politely away ...after all he is billy graham junior,
but did need to be shepherded quickly on that point .

Maybe the good junior rev Franklyn should read more Rumi ?
(or try some sufi swirling ? Could loosen him up a bit , hehe)

regards,

mars

believing in this world as less than "as good as it gets"

If this is as good as it gets, why bother?
