Would you rather that Auschwitz was carpet-bombed?

Yes. If they had killed most of the inmates at any one time but managed to destroy the railway yards and the crematoria, it would have saved many lives.

<<Why bomb Auschwitz? Wouldn't that kill the very people you hoped to save?
Neither the US nor Great Britain had the capacity to do precision bombing - the bombs were not guided.>>

The Brits had the Mosquito Bomber that was small and fast enough to fly in low, drop the bombs from tree top hight which made them pretty accurate, and get out of the area. They tried one rescue on a Gulag holding British Airmen. They blew a hole in the wall and bombed the guards quarters. The Brits that escaped were rounded up and shot to death. Can't escape if you have nowhere to go.
