In reality, there are too many petty crimes

shop lifting costs consumers over $30 billion dollars a year because of shop lifting as these loses are passed on to consumers in the price of products.

news radio was just discussing the situation. One fish market manager said he has caught women going out with live lobsters down their slacks. Or how about soft shell crab in pocket book.

The only real value to having cameras everywhere in public is to identify killers like the terrorists in London.

There is a current murder case in Washington where the murderer was clearly seen by a security camera. One of the problems with convicting murderers in Washington is the increasing unwillingness of people to testify. Seems to me that security cameras are a good counter to that. Film doesn't fear. And if the cameras can work for lesser crimes, too, making it cost effective to prosecute them, all the better.
