We have similar experiences. I just don't feel any safer, but I do feel a lot more harassed. The orbiting woman to whom I had referred was in the Seattle Airport, in the check in area where people are lined up waiting to check in. Nobody at this point has gone through a security check, so everyone in that area is vulnerable. You remarked in another post about terrorists exploiting a class that doesn't fit their profile; recruiting blue eyed nordic types, for example, to do their dirty work. I see your point, but the obverse of that is that they can dress in ethnic garb hoping to avoid inspection because of our abhorrence of profiling. Inspections should not exclude any group, but groups that are more likely to be terrorists should be more likely to be inspected. I'm sure the profiles of terrorists are well known so that this is feasible if we are just willing to do it. I certainly agree with this: Even if you don't like it, at least maintain your self-respect and exhibit respect for others.
