Then would you believe that Palestinians would be behaving differently? Or that they would blame US any less because Israel was not a Jewish state? Alternatively, consider that many Jews lived in the middle east for a long time with relatively trouble free lives. Why was that? The same goes for American Jews and I can tell you from personal experience that most Arabs here do not hate American Jews (some hold a grunt, but none that I know hate them or advocate violence against them). So why is that? And by the way, when Israel rolled into Lebanon, most Lebanese were relieved by the thought of being rid of Palestinians in their land. A year later, they started to hate Israel. Why was that? And I have spoken with Christian Egyptians and Lebanese, neither were any less hostile to Israelis than Muslim Arabs. Why is that? Michael Scheuer made a noteworthy observation. He said the foreign fighters who volunteered in Afghanistan to fight the soviets did not do so because the Russians were godless immorals, but because the Russians were godless immorals who had invaded a Muslim land. What all these considerations point to, is that the issue is not religious. The issue is that some people are busy killing and displacing other people and US has taken a clear side in empower one side against the other. Your premise that religion has everything to do with it is simply false. Religion has just become one of the tools both sides use to gain an advantage in their fight.
