Ted, However, I have to ask...........have you ever been in a ghetto hospital?

Actually, my wife worked there until several weeks ago.

Yes, her car was ripped off, wasn't it? One of the perks of working in the GHETTO soon to be BARRIO!

The problem isn't the fact that the hospital is in a "ghetto." The problem is that the work culture there is so backwards that the only ones willing to stay there are those who are just in it for the money. It's no wonder there are so many deaths there due to patient neglect, thus earning the nickname "Killer King."

Which comes first: the chicken or the egg? The area is so bad its mostly people who are into the money and usually the least qualified that apply. Doctors tend to have lost all their idealism by the time they complete their internship.......most want to end up in the best, non GHETTO hospitals in the area.

Like I said

I thought that was the average teacher's salary in CA.

You forget. Teachers get the summer off, so their salary of $50K/year is equivalent to someone making $66K/year but doesn't get to take the summer off. Not bad for a job that also promises more job security than most working in the private sector.

I am not sure about this job security thing you and Taro are tossing around. School budgets are badly stretched. Teachers up here are getting laid off left and right.

As for the salary, can we drop the subject.........every time it comes up, I get depressed....knowing what I could be making had I not decided to become a teacher. ;~)
