Since defining a problem accurately is at least half the solution, let's all hope that a solution will be found sooner than later.

I've already provided the solution - democratize the Muslim nations. This will allow the majority of peace loving Muslims to reject the jihadist Muslims at the ballot box (if that's what the majority really thinks). The problem is that the jihadists claim to speak for Muslims, but there is no actual voice for Muslims. Most are denied freedom of speech/press in their countries, and they are denied the ability to express a "collective will" due to the authoritarian regimes they live under.

Look at Indonesia where democracy and a relatively free press prevail. It's the most populous Muslim nation, and the jihadist groups there are a tiny, fringe movement that is contained within its own borders. There was a huge movement against such jihadists groups following the Bali bombings as the majority expressed their revulsion to them, and as far as I can tell its more of a footnote in Indonesia history now than an ongoing movement.
