Ork, substitution within a basket of goods is the remedy for run away inflation. Try some of these soon to be offered adult beverages of the vine at your neighborhood Wal-Mart.

Let's be fair. The Glenrothes '74 has been praised in many magazines and sprits newsletters as being among the best single malts ever. And many distilleries, such as Glenrothes, The Maccallan, etc have just started releasing 30 year old vintages for the first time. So there is excitement among conneisseurs. The demand well exceeds the 4-5K bottles shipped to the US this year.

TRUE..but what was the differential 30 vs 31 years ago when it was bottled???...let's see that was 1974 versus 1975 ;)
Imagine what a bottle from 1979 will cost you :0

:) the cost of incubation versus profits/capital invested foregone ;)

Just another way to view the world very few consider...

seems silly, but then again...how many 30 year bottles were worth the effort/reward to bottle in 1976/77/78/79???

If you think this is a silly comment, then you haven't come across the rarity reason for 1892-95 Morgan dollars...

Regardless, in the last year the dollar hasn't lost ground against the euro, but prices are up big.

Wouldn't the pound sterling be key here as the scotch is made in Scotland?
