Even in our educated country, at least compared to some others, Creationist outnumber those that accept the scientific theory of evolution. If we are that back water, just imagine trying to reform a country to accept our form of democracy, where the uneducated outnumber the enlightened. Deep down they have been conditioned by their religious beliefs are will be more than willing to accept their religious leaders as political leaders. An educated Iranian in this country once told me that the Koran gave detailed instruction on how to live your daily life in social and political aspects.
