In this respect, Australians dodged a bullet. If the Liberal Party had their way Australia would be running larger deficits, relative to GDP, than America does under Bush. Even though the Liberal Party has been prevented from creating a complete disaster, the public appetite for the Liberal Party is waning almost as quick as their tolerance for John Howard's big spending, palatial Kirribilli House lifestyle, at public expense.
