it appears there are a few of us here who spend (too?) much of our time looking for exactly this type of thing. Hopefully that is a good sign.

As long ago as 1995, we all knew qcom had a good shot of doing exactly what it has done. Its probably exceeded our greatest expectations even if the stock hasn't the last 5.5 years. We knew the cellular industry would be huge, we may have counted on a bigger splash than we have seen so far in wireless pc's/pdas but evdo is on the move.

I can't imagine una's niche is as big, but its too early to think about it...much

Dont see why microsoft doesnt deal with EVERYONE. Think they maybe interested in the applications rather then the technology and would be best be prepared should ANY company emerge as a leader.

Lawsuits will probably remain a steady drain of both money and momentum (or a boost). I cant think of any new industries or product lines that wouldnt be. Unless someone with knowledge speaks up, its unlikley that any on this thread would have a technical enough or legal enough view to give us a true indication of the risks. I think it will end up being a way to "cross-license" on the cheap if they lose many situations.

Qualcomm won and looked what happened.

Ive owned UNA for a couple years all over the place. Usually added on news that I felt furthered there position in the industry. I cant quantify the legal risks or the ramifications of lower profit margins of cross licences, but assuming they continue building a presence (as well as deemphasise other operations) I'll hold this one for the opportunity of swinging for the fences.
