Firewall question - or at least I think it is firewall related.
I had FIOS installed about two months ago - everything works great with one exception. If I leave the XP computer idle for a long time and come back to it I lose internet connection and have to restart the computer. The '98 computer will be on at the same time and it never loses the connection. This all started when we got the FIOS and they changed the router to a D-link. I'm trying to guess that maybe ZoneAlarm might have something to do with it because the '98 does not have it installed, while the XP does. Is there a setting on ZA that tells the computer to shutdown after being idle for a few hours?

It seems that CoolWebSearch is constantly evolving to avoid detection by utilities designed to remove it. I hope the FBI can cut off the head of the snake.

trendmicro.com

Trend Micro CWShredder is the premier tool to find and remove traces of CoolWebSearch – the name for a wide range of insidious browser hijackers– from your PC.

CWShredder removes these browser hijackers. CoolWebSearch installs dozens of bookmarks–mostly to porn Web sites–on your desktop, changes your home page without asking, and continually changes it back if you attempt to correct it. Furthermore, it significantly slows down the performance of your PC, and introduces modifications which cause Microsoft Windows™ to freeze, crash or randomly reboot.

Release Date
CWShredder is regularly updated to address variants as they emerge.

Current Release: May 2005. Version 2.15 .
