There was another article in Reader's Digest about a different bear lover. One photo had him sitting on the bank of a river with the bear sitting next to him.

Very irresponsible of Reader's Digest.

It's the bambi syndrome and the Readers Digest type folks feed the ignorant masses. Then those folks go to Glacier and think it's cool to feed a bear a sandwich as after all they are tame and will sit next to you on the river bank and watch you fish. Of course they are clueless to the fact that if said bear got the urge it would tear their head off and shit in their windpipe without even leaving their rump or using more then one front paw.

The area I used to live in had a lot of black bear. Virtually every one I ever met was very afraid of me. The ones I met that weren't were fed at either the land fill or at someones bird feeder who refused to quit feeding until the bear moved on. I had a neighbor who was feeding and the bear started nightly tearing down his feeder. I told him to quit and the bear would move on then he could go back to feeding. Nope. Well one day the bear decided why should I wait for this guy to empty the pail into the feeder when I can just eat it out of the pail. So Mr. Bear came right out into the yard and chased neighbor back into the house while leaving the pail behind. Now he had a new trick so the neighbor decided maybe I shouldn't feed anymore. Well Mr Bear decided to start mauling the guys house one morning when he wasn't coming out with the feed which is when I got a call from our warden up there to go shoot the bear if it was still there. It wasn't but the bear was hunted down by the wardens then and killed.

All because Bill wouldn't stop feeding birds.

They are making a movie out of that story? How irresponsible can you get?

I guess I missed part of the conversation. Fill me in.
