Over the next two generations, I think we will see even more radical changes to western religions as a response to Internet. That will be another effect of history on religion.

Meanwhile, in Africa where entire societies are obliterated by AIDS, the surviving ones tend to be strict muslims and very adamant Christians. This in itself is changing the direction of religion in Africa. And that too is another effect of history on religion.
