I was told by my parents that my job was to keep my children from becoming spoiled and their job was to spoil them. So far I appear to be ahead.

You are fortunate that your parents are that tolerant. Many grandparents have been observed telling the parents how to raise their children, often in public. My father rarely offers advice, and often declines my requests for advice.

There is much to learn and not enough time.
