I'm not in favor of the Babel theories, so I can't answer these more nuanced points.

On the lighter side, some scientists of various flavors have actually proposed that the Basque's are descended from Neanderthals, primarily because the language is a total oddball. Unfortunately, some Neanderthal DNA has been found and sequenced, and it is distinctly non-human. Actually, IIRC, they were arguing for human/neanderthal mix. I kind of hoped something like that would pan out, just because I'd like to think they didn't all die out. Oh well..

"At Babel, all the modern races arose "in the twinkling of an eye" so to speak, i.e. the Designer stepped in again. So there is no evolution."

Ok, maybe. But the Bible doesn't really talk about races, but languages. I suppose you could make that argument, but what about Europe? It has many languages, a few, like Basque, which don't show much relationship with the others, yet the people are pretty similar...

Europe has many languages but three significant divisions.....Romance, Germanic/Celtic and Hellanic/Russian......none of those root languages relate very well to each other like you said.

Therefore, its very easy to poke holes in the creationistss theories..........I think that's why the theory keeps getting revised every few years.
