Story in local paper yesterday on illegals being paid very low wages under the table in the homebuilding industry. Obviously benefits both sides for now and they keep it quiet. Just another reason homebuilders are toast with gov't crackdown now underway. I think when the building boom ends a lot of these now skilled workers will wise up (they make $8-12/hr now while the pros make $25-75 hr) and depress wages in a lot of the recurring necessary blue collar and RE service businesses from lawn service to handyman with many getting licences and going after electrician and HVAC.
