Training where a lot of your "trainees" die is far from ideal.

In terrorism, learning to die by observing others die is a major part of the training. The suicide bombers and pilots are not depressed loners at the end of their rope. They have planned and trained and thought about their mission. The more death they see, the more they are used to it.
