Do you or others here watch Bill Maher? Opinions on him?

"I don't think you can rationally claim that both Jesus and Allah are God."

I am not a religious scholar. I do not align myself with the religious authorities of either Christianity or Islam (I consider them corrupt). You are attempting to engage me in debate over the doctrine of one, or the other, or both on a scholarly basis: I am not qualified and I do not consider such exercises to be healthy, so I avoid them at all costs.

You asked me to provide a rational explanation of my view, which I did and which I do not justify by any loyalty to either Christianity or Islam or the dogma of those religions. It is my personal view and mine alone. My views do not necessarily render those of others to be irrational.

"As to going to that thread, my comment had nothing to do with your dispute with that person. My point is that you have not cornered the market on rationality by any means. You really ought to challenge statements for their rationality (as I did with you)--one by one--rather than simply tar people with a broad brush."

I went to that other thread and made a concerted effort in encouraging them to engage in discussion based on sound reason, adherence to principle and liberal innovation. I went into some detail with them as to how I saw the benefits in that approach. I was soundly dismissed and banned. You really should take a look at the discourse before assuming that everyone is interested in employing sound reason and that my attitude is simply arrogant.

My final analysis on the thread itself is that group loyalty expressed by a willingness to bash bush even when logic does not support such conduct ... is a thread value. Where as lack of such willingness is cause for immediate discharge.

SouixPal took off the political boxing gloves in PM and discussed several things regarding thread dynamics with me. We are in agreement that there are left wingers and right wingers who are more interested in bashing the other side than they are interested in reasoned discussion. I doubt that anyone would deny that. It is not an act of arrogance to point the phenomenon out.
