Even getting rid of the mortgage deduction on 2nd homes would cause a crash at this point, since so much of the marginal buying now IS on 2nd homes. It would be a good place to start, though.....

PS...at some point even the $500k exemption will be a moot point for many...in places like Miami and Lost Wages.
