And Cindy Sheehan has voluntarily and intentionally made herself a public figure. So by your own position, it's fair game to demonize her. I have no idea how you could possibly imagine that the only incivility abroad in the world of politics is liberal Democrats attacking those nice conservative Republicans, in fact. Are you serious? I have no idea how you could possibly imagine that I made any such argument. Are you serious? At least, though, you are willing to admit that there is such a thing as a nice conservative Republican. That's progress! Public figures -- not just politicans but businesspersons, show business persons, professors (have you ever been involved in a down and dirty faculty battle? It makes the Dems and Repubs look like pussycats), hournalists, you name it -- attack each other publicly and often viciously. Why? Because it works. Americans have proved that they like attack politics. Oh, many will say in polls that they don't, but they vote for the most successful attackers. They say they like "nice" politicians, but they won't vote them into office. There is virtually nothing they will punish at the ballot box. Politicans aren't stupid, just power mad. If it works, they'll do it. And the voters prove at the ballot box that attack politics works. Cindy Sheehan deliberately choose to jump into the public arena, and to engage in attack politics herself (calling Bush the world's greatest terrorist is pure attack politics). If she's going to jump into the sewer, she can't complain that she's getting s#%^ thrown on her.
