its been standard for years since about the early 80s, right when music went down the tubes. The dixie chicks got 600K, TOTAL (for all three of them) for their Fly CD which sold 200mm in sales.

That group TLC which had a huge hit in the 90s with their waterfall CD ended up being forced to declare bankruptcy. Typical music industry BS.

BTW I think it is actually .58 per CD that goes to the artists and not $1.
